A private hospital in Bloemfontein has partnered with the Free State Department of Health to help reduce a backlog of more than 4 000 cataract and urology cases.
As part of its Mandela Month contribution, EmoyaMed Private Hospital has already performed six specialised surgeries, providing much-needed relief to patients who had been waiting for treatment.
Ten patients requiring cataract removal and urological procedures have been identified under the initiative, which aims to ease pressure on the public healthcare system while improving access to critical surgical care.
