The price of oil has hit $100 a barrel on Thursday for the first time since May after Iran's Houthi allies in Yemen claimed to hit two Saudi tankers in the Red Sea, stoking fears that another crucial shipping route would be choked off by the widening conflict.
The Houthis' strikes were the first since the group announced a blockade on Saudi ships this week.
This after the United States and Iran traded strikes across the Middle East for a 12th consecutive night.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump says he will hold Iran responsible for any further Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and has threatened to expand the conflict to include the Yemeni group.
