Transport Minister, Barbara Creecy says the passenger rail industry is not a threat to the taxi industry.
She says it is part of a collaboration of all forms of transportation which aims to transport customers from one end to the next.
This comes as government continues its goal of sourcing investments, to restore rail to its position as the backbone of the transportation of people and goods.
Creecy was speaking at the Southern Africa Transport Conference in Pretoria, under the theme: "Developing and Sustaining Transport Systems in an Uncertain World".
