The South African Legal Practice Council has turned to the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria to have former Public Protector, Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane, struck from the roll of advocates.
The statutory regulatory body has cited various reasons, including unprofessional conduct.
In papers filed before the court, the body also seeks an order for Mkhwebane to immediately surrender and deliver to the Registrar of the Court, her certificate of enrolment as an advocate.
It is arguing on several grounds, including its contention that Mkhwebane is 'not fit and proper' to remain an advocate.
To talk to us about this we are joined by Fomer public protector Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
