The Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival is South Africa's premier youth arts and creative showcase, held annually at the historic Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct in Johannesburg.
Founded in 2012, the festival commemorates the legacy of the June 16, 1976, Soweto Uprising by providing a dynamic platform for modern youth activism, economic empowerment, and creative expression.
The 2026 edition, marking its 14th anniversary, is specially curated under the theme "Commemorating 50 Years of Youth Activism and Creative Freedom".
To share more on the offering this year, we're joined by Belu Mabandla, Executive Head: Destination marketing and events, Joburg Tourism Company.
