A warrant officer attached to the KwaZulu-Natal Hawks, Karl Sander, has testified that his success in the recovery of illicit drugs was "stepping on toes". When pressed on what this statement meant, Sander's evidence implied that his work served as a threat to alleged corrupt networks. Sander forms part of many witnesses that will be called this week as the Commission intensifies its probe into the Isipingo Drug bust, where the Hawks seized 541 kilograms of cocaine, which would later go missing from a Port Shepstone storage facility. To discuss this and more, we are joined by Professor Kholofelo Rakubu, Criminologist at Tshwane University of Technology.
