The Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town is marking 55 years since it first opened its doors, originally as the Nico Malan Theatre during apartheid.
Once reserved exclusively for white audiences, the institution says its anniversary now reflects a wider journey of transformation and inclusion.
Celebrations included the unveiling of a memorial wall titled "Becoming Artscape – A Place Reborn."
