“Pressure for me is only up to the start of the exam, but once a Math Olympiad starts, the love of math just takes over. For those four and a half hours, it is just me admiring the beautiful structures in the problem and having fun with it. I had zero expectations of getting into the team; I just went there to learn math and make some friends. Our mentors helped us stay grounded and calm during the whole process. This year, India’s sixth rank did not happen overnight; it is the cumulative effort of people participating in this Olympiad for so many years. Every time we improved a little bit more, and today we are here. I am hopeful that this result will motivate more students to participate.” — Shivani Bharat Kumar (Chennai) – Bronze Medallist
