The Hawks' Gauteng Organised Crime Unit Commander, Colonel Francois Steyn, has accused members of the South African Police Service of interfering with investigations into a major drug bust carried out in July 2021 in Aeroton, south of Johannesburg.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 715 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of 300 million rand, making it one of the largest drug interceptions in the province.
Testifying on the matter, Colonel Steyn revealed that no arrests have been made to date, raising serious concerns about alleged obstruction and delays in bringing those responsible to book.
