But he could just as well be living in the moment and just doing fun and impossible things. <br><br>As for a monopoly, there are bigger companies like Nvidia or more sinister companies like Blackrock in the game. SpaceX/Tesla is just more visible.

Duh... why do you think??? Because he can consolidate his financial results, redistribute the subsidies and public money his companies receive, pay himself a larger than life salary and bonuses, and profit from the unreal and unjustified value of his companies' shares.
He is just selling the 'american dream', a never ending show with broken promises, drunk on power, bored of money. Another fraud, a dangerous one though.
