Reinstated National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola says he is not returning to work to seek revenge against anyone. Instead, he says his priorities include stabilising and uniting the South African Police Service.
Masemola returns to work after a six-month suspension over allegations that he contravened the Public Finance Management Act in connection with a multi-million-rand tender awarded to alleged crime kingpin Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.
The National Prosecuting Authority withdrew the charges, citing a lack of prospects of a successful prosecution.
This paved the way for President Cyril Ramaphosa to lift Masemola's suspension.
