France's Interior Minister Laurent Nunez admitted Monday that the police "lost control" in some cities during violent protests that erupted in cities across the country at the weekend. He said there had been a "lack of anticipation" in preparations and that he had tendered his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron "because I felt responsible for everything that happened." Macron did not accept his resignation.

Content creators always say that this only happens in 'Third World' countries—that’s what they call them. Now, they’re experiencing it themselves.😂

If riots were escalating, then why didn't the authorities escalate in proportion? Once the protests crossed over into being not peaceful, then the police are justified to use proportionate force to match the violence. If the rioters were damaging property and assaulting store owners, why didn't the riot police start using their batons? The law should be on the side of the police.
