If opposition leaders publicly allege a conspiracy to steal elections, they should identify specific cases, provide verifiable records, explain the alleged pattern and submit their material to the appropriate authority. If they promise evidence to the President, they should follow through and make clear what they have submitted.<br>At the same time, the Election Commission should make its records and procedures sufficiently transparent to permit independent verification. The absence of publicly presented proof does not conclusively establish that malpractice never occurred, but neither should repeated allegations be treated as proof that it did.<br>The fairest conclusion at present is this: the allegations warrant examination where supported by specific facts, but the charge of deliberate electoral manipulation should not be accepted as established without evidence. The same standard of evidence and accountability should apply to the opposition and to the Election Commission.
