The Department of Water and Sanitation says it needs more than R400 million, to refurbish a Waste Water Treatment Plant in Klerksdorp, North West.
The plant has been out of service since 2023 and causes pollution to the Skoonspruit River and sewer spillage in some areas.
This was revealed by Deputy Minister, Jack Bloom during his oversight visit to the plant.
The department opened a case against the City of Matlosana Local Municipality in February this year, for non-compliance.
Zebilon Maine has more.
