How about if you voluntarily consume alcohol, you've become incapacitated to make responsible decisions and therefore you should be considered not guilty in cases of driving under influence?

Who feel asleep at the switch? Our public broadcaster isn’t supposed to allow the public that funds it and who forms its imaginary audience - to comment on its stories.

I am not a lawyer, but the additional drugs (ketamine, etc) plied on Jane Doe in the Cornell case, makes her even more "incapacitated". Also, the Hockey Canada case was ruled for the players primarily due to "inconsistent testimonies" by the alleged Victim, where as Jane Doe have not testified in any capacity even tho Police interview reports exist. The similarities definitely exist, but Legal system runs on factual details and testimonies.

Yeah. The parallels are crazy.

Women feeling shame after willingly engaging in shameful conduct and giving their consent, then later, revoking their consent because of said shame.

Then, ignorant people blame the men like they did something wrong…to a willing participant.

Yes, they all participated in disgusting conduct, but engaging in those activities with willing participants is not illegal.

The ketamine stuff from the dorm was the only illegal thing in the whole story.

Also, another parallel is the news stating that drunk men can provide consent and drunk women cannot is another commonality on this.

What do they have against women? They are just as capable as men.

Now…before y’all a start calling me an “ist” and whatnot…go read the court stenographer writings.

We’ll talk about what I am and what I am not once you’re actually informed…properly.

They forgot to turn off the comments. Kind of ridiculous that they turn off the comments in the first place. This is the tax payer owned news service after all.

I don't understand how a legal expert can argue that voluntarily drinking alcohol somehow negates your ability to consent. The law still protects you if you decline consent under the influence, it just doesn't negate consent if given. If a law like this were in place, and the events alleged are true, why wouldn't the 7 boys also have been victims of hers as well? It also seems impossible to discern in this case that whether the story changing was due to initial self preservation and denial or later self-preservation, to reframe her complacency to be seen as a victim rather than a consenting participant.
