Is cbc an American media? Sure sounds like it as all they do is try to Try to put every project in a bad light

What happen to build and buy Canadian?

Canadian media shouldn’t use click bait to get viewers. If that exact component isn’t possible to be at scale in Canada than what can you do unless you stall the project until such components are able to be made in Canada

Did we not just have a lot of steel worker out of job? Yes they are private company but maybe give the bid to a company uses Canadian steel ??

@@chatwithjatImported1mo ago
Well, if the economics make sense, then can you blame them? If Canadian steel is more expensive than steel from the other side of the world, then congrats we played ourselves. We are not a competitive player in the world.

Wow this reporter is terrible. CBC you need to stop raging baiting. It doesn't help the country at this point in time and is very amateurish. Answer is simple.

1. LNG Canada will use Canadian steel if it can be sourced in Canada
2. LNG Canada is buying some steel components from China because Canada doesn't make it.

The reporter is being a tiny bit misleading because the answer is very obvious didn't need such a long discussion. The answer is that the type of module the LNG requires cannot be built in Canada's current facilities. That's it no other reason. This happens all the time around the world even when there's tariffs. For example LPTs AKA large power Transformers require both special steel and specific technology to build. Canada, China, Mexico, Japan and Germany are the few places that can currently build lpts with the correct type of steel. For example the US needs to import and buy some of those they will not be able to use US steel

Good. Better than US steel. Not as good as Canadian steel, but I don’t think Canada has any steel workers left after layoffs….🤷
