Vladimir Putin began the full-scale war in Ukraine in February 2022. In a wide-ranging speech at the Valdai foreign policy forum, Putin told his audience that he believed that international conflicts were highly likely to continue, but would get better as "Western hegemony" weakened.
He also insisted that Russia's attacks on Ukrainian economic targets were a direct response to Ukraine's strikes on Russia's oil refineries and its ships in the Black Sea.
"Now from every direction we're receiving calls 'let's stop'. But they started it," he said.

Europe and the world will soon come to terms with the fact Ukraine's borders are going to look different in the future. Some towns and villages being part of Russia won't be the end of the world. And after being stuck slowly taking territory in Donbas the last four years I think the hysteria about them taking Europe is idiotic.

Is the only way to stop the war for both countries to remove their napoleons to a secluded island? Russia lied to ukraine when ukraine gave up its nukes after the end of the cold war. Neither leader cares about his slaughted countrymen, how long before they (the countries) remove their incompetent leadership?

the kickback from Ukraine is 50% - so the £25 billion (of our money) given to Ukraine means £12.5 billion back for MPs ... there are 650 MPs - so £12,500,000,000 divided by 650 = £19,230,769 per MP ... this Ukraine war is a boon for British MPs

Vladimir Putin, the Russian Federation president , is in four years and seven months war in Ukraine and it is not easy. Because Ukraine is not alone and Russia is also not alone as well ,with made in Iran drones ,north korean soldiers ,etc. So at this time both parties are just trying to ocupie more land in the other side of the frontlines and sit in the peace-talks with "more for me " on the table.

Of course Russia will escalate. Ukraine is out of air defense and they are having trouble recruiting 30,000 new recruits per month to remedy their 27,000 per month casualty level despite resorting to Busification. Also, notice Steve's propaganda ploy. Who does he choose to interview? The most extreme Warhawk in Russia. What did Putin say about his proposals? "I reject this. ... First, we see no need to use it [a tactical nuclear strike]; and second, considering this, even as a possibility, factors into lowering the threshold for the use of such weapons." Putin is a Moderate.

Its brutal that a hand full of men can do so much damage to the world. Putin, Trump, Xi and what ever leader is in Iran and running the Houthis. If only the people could stop those 4 people millions would be saved. Send those 5 to the front, period.

Russia has no viable move in Ukraine - it shot its bolt in the hope that the invasion would be a quick one - when that failed, Russia ended up in a war of attrition.

I am British in Ukraine, I came 4 years ago and have been here continuously for the last 2 years. The UK has been very supportive of Ukraine, but I think the people in UK do not understand what they are facing. The Russian way of war is utterly brutal, they kill torture and maim - and they would genuinely like to really harm UK if they can get away with it - and they may well try. The correct response is not meetings, or strongly worded letters - it is a massive and hard reaction, kinetic and cyber. Otherwise Putin will smell weakness , and the schoolyard bully will keep kicking the kid on the ground. Do not bleat about the UK nuclear deterrent, that only works in situations when they think UK will use it. If Russia attacks UK directly, in any way - GRU officers need to start disappearing, their strategic early warning radars need to stop working , and they need to intercept genuine signals ordering our SSBNs to move into position to strike Moscow - otherwise, before too much longer , the British people will be hiding in cellars - like the Ukrainians listening to the thump of missiles and drones landing .

Isn't it a shame that Russia allows BBC correspondent work in Russia, yet Britain who calls itself a democracy, a free nation, is afraid to allow Russian journalists? Remember Putin is the dictator according to BBC and the West.
