Russia and China present their partnership as one of equals. But Russia's war in Ukraine and growing isolation from the West have made Beijing increasingly difficult for Moscow to replace. From trade and technology to finance and energy, Al Jazeera Explains how the balance between the two powers has shifted, and why the long-delayed Power of Siberia 2 pipeline reveals who has more room to negotiate, and who needs the relationship more.

usa saw extraordinary growth both geopolitically and economically during its bipolar years from 1945 to 1991. us absolute hegemonic or unipolar era from 1991 saw the beginning of usa over stretching. realizing this, usa started popularizing idea of g2 after its 2008 financial crisis. china and rusia has embarked on brics, bri, sco, ndb, aiib and popularized idea of multipolarity

This line of reasoning is foolish. In a free market economy, buying and selling—as well as supply and demand—are reciprocal; given that China and Russia share a border, trade is naturally bound to grow. If China purchasing Russian oil implies that Russia is heavily dependent on China, then shouldn't Al Jazeera also comment on whether its own patron state, Qatar, is excessively dependent on China?<br>When Iranian and Gulf oil exports are restricted and the U.S. makes exorbitant demands, surely China needs a stable supply of oil from Russia? In such a scenario, who is dependent on whom? Ultimately, the fundamental issue is that Al Jazeera dares neither to question the Emir of Qatar nor to challenge U.S. totalitarianism.

China is an industrial, economic and technological giant.More than 140 count items are largest trading partners of China.China has no plans to wage war on any country. Russia needs China due to it’s war with Ukraine.China needs oil and gas from Russia and that is all.

Seems incidental to the war and the sanctions. Nothing structural, except if those relationships with the world are permanently changed.

Westerners never understand mutual respect and mutual cooperation based on win-win deals. They are still focussed on a colonial mindset I dominate with all the leverage and you are the poodle puppy.
