The speaker Mr. Herman is saying that Canada wants to be a main Trans Shipment point for imported Chinese materials, exported into the US at no tariff. US will just cut off CN trade to stop the trans shipment of Chinese products. Why does he not even say a word about trans shipment.

As a Canadian I just wanted to say this, in a recent poll 75 percent of Canadians wanted Canada to fight the US but nearly 69 percent of Canadians were not willing to lose their jobs or any retirement savings in the event of a trade war. So Canadians want a trade war without the consequences of a trade war. The even funnier thing is that it's mostly older retired boomers that want to fight a trade war because they won't actually lose their jobs or any savings if this continues. Canada is the country with the most unserious voters on earth I say that as a Canadian lol

NAFTA cost america jobs, production capacity, security, quality of life. It was inevitable that the american people would eventually choose a leader to close the loopholes, stop subsidizing so much of NATO defense spending, address the trade deficits, open markets and bring american manufacturing home - especially where defense / security related tech is concerned. National Sovereignty matters. A stronger Canada is better for everyone. If you can be independent, please do that. If you cannot be independent, have that conversation with yourself and ask what kind of relationship you want to have with the country subsidizing you. My guess is the latter and the answer is not "adversarial".

Carney doesn't even have the option todo what Trump is saying he'll do. The moment he does they'll call a vote of confidenceand trigger a federal election. This stance on Trump is literally the source of his popularity. The mechanics of democracy all but assure Canada will not capitulate because our leadership cannot do that and stay in power. We stand with Carney. The americans are not backing Trump in this. He's acting like he's a king not to be held accountable to his constituients. Between Canada and Iran, Trump's got a machine gun pointed at his own feet.

Trump says Canada will eventually back down. Mark Carney says Canada needs to reduce its dependence on the US. With around 70% of Canadian exports still going south of the border, how much room does Ottawa really have to resist Washington’s pressure?
