US President Donald Trump will host Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the White House on Thursday for a day full of pageantry. Trump personally greeted Xi on the tarmac after his arrival on Wednesday, the first time in more than six decades that a US president has welcomed a foreign political leader at Joint Base Andrews near Washington. But Trump's decision to roll out the red carpet has ruffled feathers among both Democrats and Republicans.

His criticism of China rests on the claim that its president is unelected. Yet Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait..all close partners of the West—are likewise led by unelected rulers. If that principle truly mattered to him, he'd apply it consistently. The fact that he doesn't suggests the objection is selective.

Why XI an unelected and authoritarian leader is not invading other countries to impose his policy and Ideology, while the other elected democratic leader is brazenly invading countries to impose democracy.

I wonder 🤔 so you mean to say that red carpet only for Europe????

Trump is scared. He knows his military is depleted with the fiasco in Iran after getting sucked in by Netanyahu. America is weak right now and China knows it. If China wants to make a play for Taiwan right now America would be unable to react.

Calm down, you’re just screaming. No love lost with CCP, but they hold virtually all our national debt, we purchase billions from China, and I am sure Europe buys goods, minerals, and components from China, (solar anyone?) plus we had a trade agreement in the works under Obama. You commies can’t make up your mind. It’s ok for the left to hail the CCP, infiltrate all of our social and political sphere, our Universities, buy up land near our bases, for Canada to host and have a trade agreement, to have billions in trade, but not have an official state visit, public on record, and open to the world to see, to discuss our interests? What you call pomp is public disclosure. None of this is behind closed doors, would you rather? You don’t make peace with friends. You have to make peace with your adversaries. And this ramping up hostilities around the world by media is no way to engage with adversaries.
