Trump's 'warm welcome' to Xi masks troubled US-China relations, analyst says

Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in the United States for his first state visit there in 11 years.
Xi will be holding high-stakes talks with Donald Trump during his three-day visit.
Trump greeted Xi at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland with great fanfare, including a battery gun salute and a flyover by the US air force.
Xi and Trump are expected to discuss trade, critical minerals and supply chains.
Technology and Iran are also expected to feature in the talks.

Richard Weitz is a senior fellow at the NATO Defense College and a security analyst at Wikistrat.
He says the warm welcome for President Xi highlights the desire for both sides to strengthen the relationship despite tensions.
