Cosatu President Zingiswa Losi has delivered a message of hope to workers as the federation declared war against high unemployment and the rising cost of living.
Speaking at the national Workers' Day rally, Losi called for unemployment to be declared a national emergency to protect the livelihoods of the working class.
The labour federation held its main celebration in Polokwane, Limpopo, under the theme: "Building working-class unity for economic liberation towards socialism."
The event also saw messages of support from alliance partners, with Deputy President Paul Mashatile describing workers as the "backbone of the economy."
