Cancer patients gain access to new treatments

Cancer patients in Bloemfontein and surrounding areas can now access advanced radiotherapy treatment closer to home.

Life Rosepark Hospital has become the first private hospital in central South Africa to offer Deep Inspiration Breath-Hold, or DIBH, radiotherapy.

The hospital has also successfully delivered its first Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy, or SBRT, treatment.

The techniques allow specialists to target tumours more precisely while limiting radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
