This is an absolute reach. This is like when Serena Williams got offended by a cotton tree decoration in a hotel. I'm able to call out racism when I see it but this shit is RIDICULOUS. I've watched this so many times and I don't see it. Now they'll be ready to cancel the girl in the commercial.

Anyone who understands art understands that this was 100% deliberate on the side of the artist. It's possible the CEOs were ignorant and stupid but the artists damn sure knew what they were evoking

This is most definitely a “I’m sorry if that offended you” situation. To suggest it was on purpose is absolutely insane.

This kind of hysterical over reaction attributing malice where there’s no proof of any does nothing but give ammunition to right wing media.

Companies need to stop apologizing for this stuff. Obviously it's not the intention. Take it down if you must, but don't start saying that you messed up because the only thing happening here is people are twisting an innocuous ad into something it's not.

I would really like breakdowns of "social media outrage" to find out if there are real people behind any of it. I did look up the congress person actually published this complaint. But this one seems so absurd to me. Im black for what thats worth and this feels disrespectul to the word racism...

IMHO, until one can walk in someone else's shoes, personally I would hold my perspective judgement of how someone else may see something as offensive...but then again, that's just me; 'to each their own' 🤷🏻♀️😉

Huh? I’m really struggling to see the alleged imagery here. If Convers sneakers were somehow associated with lynchings already, sure, I can see how this ad could be construed that way, but I’m not aware of any existing association. That Congressman should really take a hard look in the mirror because claiming racism where there isn’t any actually hurts Black people. That combined with his over-the-top rhetoric is frankly embarrassing for him.
