The Earl of Sandwich (c 1660ish) was an inveterate card player and ordered his staff to ensure that his meals were served such that his hands remained clean for play. So if it is defined by "Sandwich" it's a food that your dinner is contained in an edible non mess wrapper. So hot dog, burrito, gyro... All are sandwiches. Thoughts?
