Trump probably helped Canada by pushing for this. Canada has been stagnant for the last 20 years, growing only in terms of massive immigration and oil sales while the economy at large has been weaker than the poorest US state.

Carney seems clever, only to be betrayed by his foolish and dogmatic stand on Russia.

WSJ invented associate member term, not Carney and not Canada. Carney clarified we are not seeking to be a member. Lazy reporting everywhere.

They are really welcome. I like it very much how Canada handles this psychopath.
Also as tourists they behave, and are very nice people, here in The Netherlands.
They remind me of us, Dutch. Don't p*ss us off, just don't.

That is a good thing. Canada is a fantastic country and has shown nearly solitary courage against the raging tyrant currently "leading" the United States. Canada has much to give. A status similar to Norway's or Switzerland's, vis-a-vis the EU, would be highly desirable.

"Trade War" is a term Carney uses. US does not use the term. Canada's total export is about 1.5 % of US GDP. The negotiation was about 5% of that. You can hardly call it a "WAR".
