Russian drones targeting a train near Poland, suspected acts of sabotage across Europe, and growing pressure on NATO's eastern flank are raising new questions about how the Alliance should respond to Moscow. “I think there are two objectives behind the attack on the train,” says Malcolm Rifkind, former U.K. Foreign Secretary and Defence Secretary, in World Talks. According to him, the Kremlin is trying both to increase pressure on Ukraine and to test NATO's reaction to increasingly provocative actions near Alliance territory.
In Rifkind's view, NATO must speak with one voice and find ways to make Russia concerned about the consequences of its own actions.
Join Sascha Fahrbach and his guest as they discuss Russia's attacks near NATO borders, the Alliance's response to growing security threats, and what lessons from the Cold War remain relevant today.
