Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi, Ekurhuleni City Manager, Kagiso Lerutla granted bail

Suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department Deputy Chief, Julius Mkhwanazi, and Ekurhuleni City Manager, Kagiso Lerutla, have been released after more than a week behind bars.

The Boksburg Magistrates' Court has granted them bail of 30-thousand rand each.

The pair face charges of fraud, corruption and defeating the ends of justice.

This follows allegations that they colluded to have Mkhwanazi's driver, Thabang Tsotetsi, impersonate Lerutla during a court appearance in 2019.
