Three men charged for the kidnapping and murder of seven members of a family from Newark on KwaZulu-Natal's north coast, have abandoned their bail application in the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court.
The victims, businessman Alan Monswamy, his wife, their two children, and three relatives, were abducted from their home last Tuesday.
Authorities say the victims were both stabbed and shot.
Their bodies were discovered about 200 kilometres away the following day.
Outside court, political parties and community groups protested, calling for the accused to receive the harshest possible punishment.
