The Western Cape Provincial Community Police Board says it is ready to "hit the ground running" with newly-appointed Western Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Sizakhele Dyantyi in fighting crime.
The board is among various community structures and anti-crime activists who have welcomed Dyantyi's appointment as the province's new police boss.
The bodies agree that police must regain the trust of the public and that they must be involved in developing strategies to deal with the rampant gang violence and extortion in the province.
