The South African Human Rights Commission in the North West has released a damning report on non-compliance by the South African Police Service, Department of Correctional Services and Public Works and Infrastructure on their facilities.
This follows the commission's investigation from 2023 to 2025, on the state of police stations and correctional facilities in the province.
The commission says out of 86 police stations across the province, 66are not compliant with Occupational Health and Safety Act, including shortage of staff and vehicles, amongst others.
Our reporter Zebilon Maine and video journalist Andiswa Shabalala compiled this report.
