The North West Provincial Legislature Standing Committee on Public Accounts, SCOPA, has strongly criticised the Maquassi Hills Local Municipality for repeatedly failing to address findings raised by the Auditor General.
The municipality has obtained an adverse audit opinion from the Auditor General for the financial year 2024/25.
The municipality has blamed this on ineffective internal controls, and the non-implementation of the audit action plan, among others.
The municipal leadership appeared before SCOPA to account for poor audit outcomes.
