Global Ocean meeting dubbed ‘Our Ocean Conference’ kicks off in Mombasa

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki says Kenya is committed to harnessing resources within its Indian Ocean territory to empower coastal communities while protecting marine ecosystems for present and future generations. Speaking during the opening of the 11th Ocean Conference in Mombasa, where he represented President William Ruto, Prof. Kindiki said the Indian Ocean is critical to Kenya's economic growth and must be safeguarded from destructive activities, including the effects of climate change.
