The Technology Innovation Agency has launched a R1.2 billion Technology Innovation Fund, with opportunities targeted at addressing youth unemployment.
The organisation is part of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, and says innovation can play a pivotal role in addressing youth unemployment, economic inclusion and sustainable development.
The fund is proceeds from the agency's investment in Kapa Biosystems, which paid out following a 20-year legal battle.
