Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has vowed that refurbishment work on the wards destroyed in the 2021 fire at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, will be completed by August. This leaves the Development Bank of Southern Africa with just two months to finish outstanding work on the project.
Motsoaledi conducted an oversight visit to the hospital, alongside Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, and Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi.
The visit follows the Public Protector's damning report into delays in the refurbishment project.
