This Africa Month, Nobuzwe Mabona is proof that fabric carries more than colour.
For more than two decades, she's created textiles as living archives holding language, identity, and pride.
During the FIFA World Cup she launched t-shirts printed with South African greetings and township slang, allowing people to see themselves in the prints.
That response became the foundation for a business built on telling local stories through fabric and it led to the growth of Buzwe Bethu Textile Prints and Design Centre.
Nobuzwe Mabona joins the show to talk about youth empowerment through textiles.
