The National Prosecuting Authority's Head, Andy Mothibi, says the Kwaggafontein State Prosecutor, who was a no-show in a case involving prominent businessman, Joe 'Ferrari' Sibanyoni, has been suspended pending an internal investigation.
The prosecutor was supposed to have led the state in Sibanyoni's extortion case, but was not in court.
The case was, as a result, struck off the roll.
The prosecutor had allegedly cited safety issues as the reason behind his absence in court.
Mothibi says the office of the National Director of Public Prosecution is conducting an investigation.
