Meta’s 'upfront controls' are a masterclass in modern Trojan horses: they’ve graciously offered to inspect the gates, while their algorithms are already inside, looting the city.

You just know that 25bn won't go to any of those affected by this violation of privacy. So where DOES it go? That 25bn could be used for a massive amount of good in the world.
@Soya4me

$25bn is a drop in the bucket for Meta, it's more profitable to cheat, lie and sell private data. When will these people/companies see some real consequences, like actual jail time for Zuckerberg and CEOs!

Meta having to pay a fine now does not mean they will "put in protections" to prevent harm, they made over $350 billion misusing that data as a company. 25 billion is just the cost of doing business, they likely had people in the company add a predicted cost of them getting caught into the business plan and it appears to have paid off.
@DeathForSk8

meta net worth is 2 trillion dollars (that's 2000 billion dollars). A fine of 25 billion dollars is pocket change to them. This is another failure to impose checks and balances on rogue oligarchs and their empires

The ad business is only doing well because they're knowingly charging more for ads they suspect to be scams. Anything flagged as 95% or above potential to be a scam is removed, anything less than that is just charged more. No wonder they're making bank in ads. Meta is a failure.
