What happened to the bbc. It’s now. A political broadcast service.
There’s no need to say controversial
If this helps people this winter it’s not controversial
The primary responsibility of a democratic government is to its
People to protect and improve there lives
Unfortunately this not longer exists in most parts of the world

Pretty sure we already passed the point of no return so does it even matter if its bad for the environment 😂
@ScottMason-ss8ww
People somehow think this gas is going to stay in Britain and be self sufficient... They must be stupid not to realise most goes to market, we don't even see it!
I do agree with opening it up, but it won't bring your bill down, someone else will be burning most of it

What nonsense by the bbc. Renewable (so called) energy pollutes too! Believe it or not!

All those huge fibreglass vanes and the massive steel posts, and worn out non disposable solar panels and the batteries. They get buried in landfill. Plus the visual pollution. We depend on oil and gas for petrol, airline kerosene, plastics and a myriad of uses especially printed circuits TVs etc.

The climate protestors need to protest to China and the USA about pollution, but they don’t do they.

They have to do this now since EU destroyed Nordstream

The weather comes anbd goes . It is veryu COLD this week no sign opf warming. The Ice cap has been melting for the lasty 10-000 yearts. It used to be a mile thick on the Thames.
@michaelmoran2022
Worked in the North Sea in the mid eighties.All the low hanging fruit is gone,its only hard to get expensive oil that's now left,thats why all the Majors have pulled out long ago.Dont think it'll make much difference to bills!!
@steverichmond7142
From Scotland - hands off - this is our gas - for us to do with as we will.. You've blown the money from our oil - and we didn't see a penny - it went to subsidise TFL and public transport in Manchester.... DISGUSTING.

Yes we’ve had the hottest summer on record but we weren’t drilling so who was to blame, not us!!! And you also said there is very little there so what’s your problem??? Why don’t you go to China or Russia or India and tell them to stop??? Because they will lock you up that’s why!!!

Meanwhile in Russia, China and the middle east. And these people think that one gas field makes a difference 🥱

@jameslyons1978
You lost me on climate change, as climate change isn't affected by jackdaws, and it will bring down bills as we won't pay 4 billion a year in Scotland to turn off windmills.

If we had not had First Past the Post voting, Thatcher could not have governed alone and it is likely that many of the privatisations and sell offs e.g. North Sea Oil and Council houses would not have happened. We could have had a state industry doing the easy profitable oil fields and kept the money as Norway did. They let private industry do the expensive risky stuff. Norway has a $1.25 Trillion Sovereign Wealth fund for the government to improve the country.

To solve Climate Change and strains on resources, has anybody tried simply POPULATION REDUCTION?

Starting by capping migration and then allowing the "ageing" population to naturally "pass"..

This could cut our population down to 50 million within 2 decades, a huge WEIGHT off the planet/environments shoulders.

There is no controversy unless you've been brainwashed into believing in the UN net zero agenda .
You have to be really stupid to not see through the net zero fraud that's based on 0.012% of the entire atmospheric gas content.
What net zero actually requires is the removal of around 0.0075% , the achievable level without closing down the entire planet .
You have to leave things like airliners and war planes flying and the elite can keep their super cars and super yachts so net zero will never be zero , it's just a nice buzz word to comfort the unfortunates that support it .

not "controversial" at all ffs get off your climate change high horse, we want cheaper energy that's it.
@MichaelTappin-k5q
"Controversial" the BBC say. (They would, wouldn't they?!) This is not controversial - we have been drilling for oil and gas since the middle/end of the last century. This is just an extension of that exercise.
It is vital, not controversial. Climate change can bu**er off as well. It is nothing to do with climate bloody change!!

@@mathew22016 days ago
This is not "controversial" to normal people of sound mind. It's only controversial in Westminster. It's outrageous for the UK to be importing natural gas from abroad when we have our own reserves.
@GillMunchen-i5v
guess how much the British people saw of the £7.1 trillion (£7,100,000,000,000) worth of oil and gas extracted from the North Sea ... ZERO [MPs stole every penny then MP's borrowed £3.3 trillion and stole that]
@monkeymagic4555
This is a HUGE mistake as of right now YES it defo should be a thing alongside dozens of other such like rigs as of YEARS ago and up and running to full pelt again BUT given the timing and exact dynamic of the Russia war and targets there this is now a prime target (and likely will be alongside Rose bank) as of the right now this should be kept shelved til Russia are dealt with proper. And with President Donald Espionage Trump clearly being a dual Russia/China agent wheres the deterent to go for them in retaliation?!
@marcdawson2156
At last some common sense, we need oil and gas desperately. There needs to be a lot more honesty about the net zero carbon grift and some accountability for those who have profited from the misery caused.
