Once leftists realize an aggressive wealth tax will cause wealthy people to leave they will try to pass laws to stop people from leaving.

The top 5% pay over 50% of the taxes collected. Government creates poverty through inflationary policies.

The human species is competitive by nature. This is woven into our DNA. If you place a wealth tax on people they will leave. There are plenty of countries who will not tax wealth because they want to attract wealthy people.

France has the most generous welfare system in the world. Like 1/4 of the workforce is in the public sector. The average pensioner gets paid more than the average wage of a worker. There hasn't been any real growth in the last few years. Tax is only one piece of the puzzle but its loopholes are the biggest problem. France is going to be bankrupt.

The original wealth tax on ALL wealth was rolled back to only taxing real estate. This is because wealthy people started leaving.
@jacklaurentius6130
Taxes in France are already astronomically high and they still think higher taxes will help 😂 they won’t learn until they crash to the bottom.

The best way is the bible way. Everyone should pay the same rate of tax. Say 5%, no deductions possible. That will be the fairest and most just. If you earn 10 million, you pay 5%; if you earn 1000 you pay 5%. The more you increase taxes, the more the billionaires will run away. The solution for France is simple: reduce the social charges on employers

Why is no effort made to cut spending. More taxes choke the economy. Use the Laffer Curve.

You’re welcome.

"Trickle down economics" has NEVER trickled down. The rich corporations just payed even less taxes, and could give more money to their stakeholder, that's all that "trickled down". It never reaches the societies, ever...

When I was born taxes started at 91% for the wealthiest Americans and then went down according to income. We were growing our infrastructure (Interstates, clean water, etc), giving low interest loans to college students and taking care of those in need plus we did NOT have the wealth inequality or wage inequality that exists today (Top paid employee only made 30% more than lowest paid employee).
Everything began to change in the mid 70s and then really changed in the 80s. The National Debt follows this same trend, getting higher at the same time. What changed? Deregulation, tax cuts & loopholes to corporations, giving them power through campaign finance laws, more power to influence agencies and policies created to protect the people. Tax cuts & loop holes to the wealthy class.
Now it's no longer a government of the people, by the people, for the people. It's a government of, by and for the corporations & wealthy class.
We The People must unite and reform governments. It's not right vs left...it's truly a class war.

IS CANADA, SPAIN, AND UK NEXT:
Bloomberg—BREAKING—SHOCKING—French government bonds become riskier than third of the country's corporate bonds- By Bloombergcom. — Published—10/09/2026

“France’s corporate bonds are now trading as if they are safer than the government’s, with nearly €215 billion of corporate debt indicated at lower yields than French government securities. This shift reflects growing investor confidence in companies amid concerns over France's fiscal stability and political uncertainty.”

Global wealth tax was proposed ages ago. It's clearly overdue. If it isn't global, the wealthy go to where the tax is low.
