Regardless of the reasons, Ukraine does need to hold elections otherwise Zelensky would just be cosplaying as Putin and end up as president for 27 years and counting. Regular presidential elections are what's supposed to make Ukraine better than Russia. Remove the democracy, remove the elections, and Ukraine's government becomes no better (internally) than Russia's. Because right now it seems like Zelensky is abusing a constitutional loophole in order to become forever dictator just like what Putin did.
