I feel bad for people who have never had much exposure to or education about tech. Almost none of what you hear in the press, or from your friends or from your family, is even close to accurate. It's just become the "next new thing" that is exciting and about which most ppl know very little. So, that's a breeding ground for ignorance.

That "some guy" is Curtis Yarvin along with the cult that is the "Effective Altruism" movement. And the answer to that "Big question" is working class solidarity and the inevitable conclusion of what that solidarity would entail. (Which would get me banned from YT)

Life is full of meaning. If one finds themself bereft of meaning, then they yet have a lot to learn about life.

How is he a whistleblower? Whistleblowers actually leak details and useful information. Tobacco industry whistleblowers leaked that cigarette companies had internal research showing cigarettes were addictive and caused cancer but buried it and then funded opposition research. Boeing whistleblowers leaked that Boeing used defective parts, rushed production, and put thousands of lives at risk for expediency.

You can't expect the world to give your own life meaning, even if you construct that world yourself.

This Coxon guy is a plant by Anthropic and/or OpenAI. Never actually says anything bad about them, only that their models are so strong. It’s just PR to pump their valuations

"That's a big question.... let's ask ChatGPT..."

Critics use terms like "regulatory nihilism" to describe proposals from major tech firms (such as OpenAI's papers on intelligence-age industrial policy), arguing that sweeping economic disruptions are framed as unstoppable natural laws to bypass democratic oversight.
