Who's running these financial models? 😅 This comparison seems to overlook some major factors like mortgage interest, maintenance costs, property taxes, condo fees, the higher barrier to entry, and the opportunity cost of not investing that money in the stock market.

Sure, homeowners can generate rental income, but that doesn't necessarily cover their total mortgage payments and ownership expenses.

Rental prices are ultimately determined by market supply and demand, not by how much a landlord pays on their mortgage.

If we're going to compare the wealth of homeowners versus renters, shouldn't we be looking at total net worth, investment returns, and the actual costs of ownership rather than just home equity and property appreciation?

Stop calculating and live your life. At various periods in life, you'd own, rent, buy and sell. They are not mutually exclusive. Housing decision is value-point based. Some value or need stability and predictability of home ownership, others need the flexibility and portability of renting. Certain lifestyles and business needs support each position. Rent, buy, invest, none of these are mutually exclusive.

Live your lives. Enough of these impossible arguments.

So we would pretend that property taxes and maintenance fees are $0?

So, single people and couples should rent, Families probably should start thinking about buying. I didn't look at the simulator, but I don't get how it came with those estimations when housing prices in the last 10 years went out of control for renters, future buyers, and homeowners.
