I mean! If you put cameras everywhere not “ protect” but to fine people all day long. What do you expect !?

People don’t want to be tracked wherever they go? Shocking.

You cannot expect the citizenry not to fight back against such horrendous surveillance

Cracking down on this is crucial. So many people doing massive speeds in 20mph areas with no camera flashes. I have to video them myself and police does nothing

We need to rewind and ask how we got here.....
Why was active policing destroyed with money saved given away in tax cuts.

It’s super-difficult to enforce unless you’re pulling over drivers who have the wrong plate on their vehicle. If you have a ghost plate, you’re trying to evade some sort of detection, whether it’s ANPR or that you’ve cloned plates.

If the plate is cloned, sending a letter to the registered owner of the VRM is just pointless, as then the owner writes back “wasn’t me guv”.

Perhaps report how the actual ghost plates work , was left really ambiguous
@lukelb-1
@@lukelb-14 weeks ago
Cloned plates were far less common on roads prior to the advent of digitalisation and algorithmic intelligence. They are, in fact, a (shoddy and unacceptable) response to the rollout of ANPR cameras themselves.

You are framing this discussion in the context of drivers' behaviour. While understandable, that is ignorant. The problem is the unintended incentivisation of cloned plates that ANPR gives people.

So I guess that it goes without saying that the evidence proves how desperately we need those omnipresent surveillance cameras, right? RIGHT? And btw, who releases the plates in UK, Walmart?

Could you please do a report on how much Private Car Parks generate in "fines" using ANPR

eachplate should have a watermark that only the camera can detect so when i goes past an anpr camera it flags as a fake number plate

What do you expect. Driving in London its impossible to navigate every sign. Sometimes three in a 100 yards. Getting one myself.

We have youth shooting at each other with automatic Glock pistols daily here in the States, and the BBC reports with a very serious tone about fake vehicles plates in England. If only that was our main trouble.

It’s to avoid fines like ULEZ. Motorists are being used as a cash cow because governments are inept at managing the countries finances.

Number plates should be supplied from official sources with proof of tax stamped on them like in Germany. That would solve a number of problems.
