Shouldn't get away with what he did, as he should know better. I used to take anti-anxiety meds and the one night I went with some friends to an art show. I had about a glass and a half of wine when the whole room tilted sideways. I should have read about it more before taking it, but after that, I stopped taking the meds and had only slight issues once in a great while after that (knock on wood). But I can see where mixing something with alcohol could be a horrible idea. But not excusable, nope.

A high altitude flight can have an effect on someone who drank before getting on the plane. Jet cabin pressure is set to around 10,000 feet (don't want to pop the plane, but high enough so people dont get sick). If you're not used to that low of a pressure it can put some extra effort into that alcohol. Meaning you don't have to drink as much to get wasted as you would at sea level. Then add some Dramamine and maybe some anti anxiety meds and whoosh off you go.
