Today : 16 September 2026<br><br>Farm Attacks<br>--------------<br>This made news in South Africa today:<br><br>Louis Lategan, a 42 year old Afrikaner farmer from the Eastern Cape, received a guilty verdict today🎉🎉🎉<br>- He is accused of running what the state described as a trap for unsuspecting women who believed they were coming to work on his Aberdeen farm.<br><br>According to court documents, between 2020 and 2023, Lategan allegedly used au pair agencies and social media to recruit young women from across SA with promises of salaries of up to R30,000 to care for his two children.<br><br>But when they arrived, the six women were allegedly drugged, locked in and repeatedly raped.<br>The alleged abuse is said to have taken place across several provinces, including the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Mpumalanga.<br>He has previous convictions for assault and reckless driving and received a suspended sentence for kidnapping and sexual assault in 2022.<br><br>He was also once accused of being involved in a plot to kill former president Jacob Zuma, though that case never led to a conviction.<br><br>A family member of Lategan’s ex-wife said he supported the victims<br><br>(Look it up if you don&#39;t believe me)

In June 2026, South African farmer Christoffel Johannes Stoman was convicted on two counts of attempted murder for intentionally driving over a six-year-old child who picked up a fallen orange from his farm. The severe regional outrage over the case culminated in his formal conviction in the Vredendal Regional Court.<br>On September 20, 2024, 6yr old Khwezi Jantjies was walking along the road with his mother in Lutzville, Western Cape. He stopped to pick up an orange that had fallen onto the ground outside or near the farm fence. Stoman drove his bakkie (with a trailer) directly at the boy and his mother, crushing the child&#39;s legs and breaking both of them. Investigators revealed that during questioning, Stoman stated he &quot;would do it again&quot;.
