Taking stock of Bafana Mahungela's guilty verdict

There is something missing in this case, and there are too many things that simply do not add up.<br><br>All the circumstantial evidence appears to point to Bafana Mahungela, but has the State proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he is indeed the murderer of the late Kirsten Kluyts? May her soul rest in peace.<br><br>In principle, it could have been another person. The fact that DNA from an unidentified woman was reportedly found under Kirsten Kluyts’ fingernails is a legitimate piece of evidence that raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the attack.<br><br>Then there is the pregnancy !!! Another layer of evidence and questions that could have been investigated more thoroughly.<br><br>We all want the guilty to pay for their crimes, and we want justice for Kirsten and her family. But there is just something about this case that feels incomplete. Something appears to be missing.
