The Modjadji Royal Family's legal battle is expected to return to the High Court in Pretoria this morning. The Balobedu royal family says President Cyril Ramaphosa followed instructions from a royal council and other people who had no legal authority. In December 2024, Ramaphosa recognised Queen Masalanabo Modjadji VII as the Balobedu monarch. The family has asked the High Court to cancel his decision. They want the Queen's brother to become the Balobedu monarch.
The family's representative, Advocate Henk Havenga, has asked the court to oversee the creation of a committee to investigate the matter.
