The alcohol industry is faced with a possible tax increase following the National Treasury's proposal to raise alcohol taxes.
This week, Treasury held public consultations with the industry and civil society, as it continues to review the alcohol taxation framework.

Treasury aims to tax beer and wine based on the amount of alcohol they contain to encourage consumers to choose lower-alcohol options and incentivise manufacturers to reformulate products.
