Residents of Tafelsig in Mitchells Plain and Philippi East on the Cape Flats are living in fear.
This after two mass shootings just kilometres apart left seven people dead. In Tafelsig, three people aged 18, 19 and 51, were shot dead, and two others injured. In Marcus Garvey in Philippi East, four young men aged between 17 and 20 were killed, and three injured.
Community safety organisations are calling on government to urgently resource police stations, particularly in gang and violence-prone hotspots on the Cape Flats.
